Challenge
The goal was to create a Pride shirt collection that celebrated LGBTQ+ identity while advocating for rights through clear, accessible visual messaging. Each design needed to communicate its message through a relatable design while remaining wearable, bold, and aligned with my personal style. The challenge was to balance activism, inclusivity, and aesthetics in a way that felt authentic and resonant across a diverse community.
Solution
Approach
I began with exploratory sketches focused on gesture, symbolism, and emotional tone. These early drawings established the narrative direction for each piece highlighting unity, joy, resilience, or protest.
From there, I developed color palettes rooted in Pride symbolism: vibrant hues for celebration, softer tones for introspective pieces, and high‑contrast palettes for designs centered on visibility and rights.
Throughout the process, I refined line work, shapes, and composition to ensure each illustration communicated clearly on its own. The final visuals were crafted to be instantly recognizable as part of my style while remaining adaptable across shirt types, colors, and print formats.
Solution
The completed collection features a series of illustrations that merge activism with expressive visual storytelling. Each design stands independently, communicating its message through color, symbolism, and composition. The artwork translates seamlessly onto apparel, maintaining clarity, emotional impact, and stylistic consistency across the full collection.
